Born in Los Angeles, California, U.S., on June 29, 1991, Kawhi Leonard began his basketball career in college, where he was a dominant force on the court, earning Mountain West Conference Player of the Year honours in both 2010 and 2011. During his sophomore season, he led San Diego State to a record of 34-3 and a spot in the NCAA Sweet 16.

In the 2011 NBA Draft, Leonard was selected as the 15th overall pick by the Indiana Pacers, but he was quickly traded to the San Antonio Spurs, where he played for the first seven years of his career. He proved to be a valuable asset to the team, helping them win the NBA championship in 2014 and earning Finals MVP honours.

Leonard was traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2018, where he led the team to their first NBA championship in franchise history and was named Finals MVP for the second time, making him only the third player in NBA history to receive the award with two different teams.
