There will be no asterisk Jon Jones feels officially cleared of cheating allegations

UFC superstar Jon Jones feels like he’s been ‘officially cleared’ of cheating ahead of his eagerly anticipated comeback fight.

‘Bones’ will compete for the first time in more than three years when he takes on Ciryl Gane for the undisputed heavyweight title at UFC 285 on March 4.

Many in the MMA community already regard Jones as the greatest fighter of all time and he can sure up his position in their eyes by becoming a two-weight world champion in Las Vegas next month.

However, some believe he should not be considered among the best to ever do it in MMA because of his history of failing drug tests for recreational and performance-enhancing substances.

During his Hall of Fame career, Jones has tested positive for cocaine, estrogen blockers clomiphene and letrozole, and the steroid turinabol.

The 35-year-old was banned for a year following his first fight with Daniel Cormier and again for 15 months following their rematch which was overturned from a knockout win in his favour to a no-contest.

On Tuesday, Chiropractic Physician, Beau Hightower, took to social media to claim Jones should be cleared of any wrongdoing following a United States Anti-Doping rule change in 2019.

He tweeted: “Jon Jones should get reparations for his USADA suspensions given ‘the science changed’ and now tests under 100 picograms per ML are not positive anymore,”

“None of his positive tests would be a positive under the current rules. His no contest against ‘DC’ should be restored to a win.”

The former two-time UFC light-heavyweight champion responded by claiming he feels like he has been proven innocent and his record will no longer have question marks over it.

Jones wrote: “I feel officially cleared. There will be no [asterisk] next to any of my performances.

“It’s good the rest of the world can see what I’ve known this whole time. My only advantage over my competition has been pure Hard work.”

The MMA icon stopped short of saying his second win over Cormier should be reinstated as he’s keen to squash his beef with his nemesis before returning to the sport.

Jones even invited the former dual-weight UFC champion to commentate on his UFC 285 fight with Gane, which he was already scheduled to do before receiving unnecessary permission from his biggest rival.
